On Biff's "Age of Stupid" thread, Fran Armstrong advises green Calder Valley voters to vote labour. However "electoral calculus" and my general feeling is the lib dems are/were slightly ahead of labour here. I decided lib-dem = least bad. Now I have to factor in Fran's Guardian article urging Greens to vote Labour and try and factor in to what extent she may have influenced the Green voter. What's a voter to do!?

    From Electoral Calculus

    Chance of winning
    LAB 26.63%

    CON 37.99%

    LIB 26.71%

Just vote for who you think is the best?

I was in two minds until I saw the candidates names and realised that one of the Parties had candidates that were 'blagging' about local issues (their local manifesto could have come right out of a low grade comedy programme because what they say they do, and what they do, are entirely separate).

So it was an easy vote for me. If it hadn't been for the above, the decision would have been more tricky.

That depends on whether you believe/want to vote tactically - I'm of the opinion you should vote for what you believe in and look at change being long term and for the best - not for now and 'least worst', so I'm either going to vote green or spoil my ballott....

(out of the realistic big three I want Lib dem, so it's been a real tough decision as to whether to go tactical or not...)

Surely politics is the art of the "do-able" and hoping for the best just doesn't cut it in that paradigm.

I think the question to ask is how can I make my vote work for today so that my hopes for tomorrow can be realised.

Where Greens don't stand a chance, a vote for them might let in an unwanted choice whereas a tactical vote might get you closer to your desired outcomes.

yes, but if everyone keeps voting like that, then we always have to put up with 'least worst'. maybe by voting green this time it will inspire someone else too next time, or in locals.

(this works best if half the clever people vote strategically and half vote green, thus making a point but saving us from tories  )
