I'm taking Grand Central down from Yorkshire Monday for Tuesday
A lot of the seminars sound interesting.
Posted By: TriassicJust planning how to get there and now I'm wondering if it's worth the effort? My car broke down when I tried to go there a couple of years back, cost me about 700 quid to not get there, May hire a car and go.
Posted By: TimberTrain sounds cheaper and less hastle! You have never taken the train from Penzance to London then, took me 13 hours to get to Aylesbury once, and there was no 'replacement bus service' that day. Cost £296.
Posted By: SteamyTeathe train from Penzance to LondonA delight! Those old Intercity 125s are swift silent luxury compared to the modern vibrating glorified diesel railcars. And home by sleeper, either in bunk (tea or coffee with your morning call sir?) or in the converted-1st-class 3-abreast spacious seated section (incredibly cheap if booked ahead). Only seen at night, beautifully liveried, pulled by a fleet of refurbed macho 1960s Brush diesels (one maroon, one BRG, one royal blue). GWR still lives!
