    Why not do the roof 1st? Gets rid of all the probs you have described.

    Who now? I've just tagged on to the thread as my questions seemed relevant here..

    My roof has already been replaced. I need to fit PB to the insulation now.

    And also is 9mm PB okay for the ceiling as 400 centres...

    Ah, OK, I see what you mean. I knoww your roof has been replaced. I was referring to your current insulation under the roof, as opposed to the insulation you have not yet done, on the walls. How about planning to do the wall in 50mm till just short of the top, and then slimming to 25? That would let you get a fix with the ceiling plasterboard onto the last rafter. I would say yes to 9.5mm plasterboard, as I have never had a problem with it, but others prefer 12.5 in all cases. More than one thread on that, somewhere.

    Ah yes, I see what you mean now. I guess whichever way I do it there will be a minimal inefficiency somewhere. I'm prone to overthinking things.

    Although if I switch to 25mm insulation on the wall for the top 1" I may not get a decent fixing for the wall PB. Maybe just do the roof first as you say right across and just leave a potential thermal bridge of the PB, not going to make much difference surely?

    Sometimes I wish I never discovered this board and just slammed the PB on with dot and dab like my '16yrs in the industry professional' would do

    VE, no time for a sketch just now, but if you did as I suggest, you'd get your 'stepped' wall insulation in, your rafter ins and plasterboard, then piece/foam i the last top bit wall, and then fix plasterboard over. You will get as close to the top as the drill body will allow. Why do you think you'd not get a decent fixing (apart from a possible tendency for old walls to be a bit iffy)?

    I would not use 9mm pboard,naff, saggy, insubstantial, lots of ceilings are now being done with 15mm. 12.5 minimum for me.
