    Best way or products to strip wallpaper from the 1920's that's stuck rock solid to the original plaster?

    Spray with detergent and water regularly for two or three days, then simply peel off

    Will that cause an issue / reaction for plastering thereafter?

    Best detergent and ratio? fairy or similar?

    A wallpaper steamer would normally work.

    But very slow and can blow plaster

    Score the surface first to allow moisture in and do as Tony suggests. Once water gets behind it will do its work. A few drops of washing up liquid or stardrops should be enough. I would not use a steam stripper. Patience is the key keep soaking and leaving.

    As Tony mentioned
    warm soapy water , well soak several time. let the soaking do the work.

    The zinsser paper tiger, combined with pressure sprayer filled with soapy water, a 6" blade and some elbow grease has worked a treat. Soaking for longer would be better but I got stuck in.

    I'll let my labourer finish off in the week now

    I always used to close doors and windows, then run a wallpaper steamer in the room for 3 or 4 fills. No need to be in there, just put the nozzle somewhere safe and leave it running. Leave for 3 or 4 hours and very often you'll find most of the paper on the floor. Garden sprayer first helps. I'm always reluctant to use steamer head directly on plaster as its easy to damage it. This approach works even on paper that has been glossed, as long as you run a spiker gently over the surface first.

    Sugar soap is normal preparation for decorators.
