South Yorkshire Energy Centre, in Sheffield, is having a clear-out. They have 6 bags of Warmcel 100 for sale (buyer collects) at a very cheap £5 (inc VAT) each. Please call 0114 3039981 and ask for Beatrice. 6 bags, when 'fluffed', is 1.5m3.

The 2-cyl air-cooled Lister stationary engine is still up for grabs, too.

wonder if we could stick the Lister in the back of a Type VW camper???
Would it run on 4:1 heating oil:Veg oil?
  2.
We used to start it on pump diesel then switch to straight veg oil, and always finish on SVO, and it was quite happy. A little bit 'un-flat' for a Vee-Dub, I'd have thought!!

    ... "un flat" ... ?
The real questions are would it fit, what sort of weight is it, and what's the "output"?
I've been thinking about putting a diesel in a Bay for some time ... apparently you can sling the rad underneath.
We also live very near to Dursley where Lister "Grew up" so would be like bringing it home!

Un-flat in that VWs use a flat four, unless it's a modern one I don't know of, and the Lister is vertical. I don't know the power output, but I guess about 15BHP. I am afraid I do not know the weight of the engine alone, because it's attached to an enormous chassis/fuel tank, which weighs a ton! I can't remember the model no. There's a pic on the original thread:

Oh, and no rad, as it's a/c

Dont think it is more than about 1/3 of the HP of a Type 2 1600.
The rad reference was in context of my having been thinking about diesel for a while, and having been told of different ways to set up the rad for your bog-standard water-cooled unit.
I do have a friend who wold be interested.
Now I know where it is I'll see if he's interested enough to get up to Yorkshire from Glos!
No pic on the thread by the way ... (unless I'm missing something?)
  4.
Sorry, pic was, I find, in a 'whisper' to someone else who was interested, but has not been in touch since.

Probably would not pass emissions test for a road vehicle.
Suspect that the power and torque curves are not best suited to the VW Transaxle either.

Steamy, you are probably right re emissions. I think it's most suited (as per the original post) to use as a pump or back-up genny, or for a narrowboat. I wish I could remember the model no. I have ST2 in my mind, but I think I had a look at a pic and established that it wasn't.

I'm kind of sorry I thought aloud! ... although it sounds as if you might have a handle on which diesel models would be worth looking into.
Would it necessarily have to be VW for example?

I don't think this mate of mine is interested either
