No one mentioned or trying the OpenEnergyMonitor hardware?
These days they have a ready-to-go "emonPi" solution has the pi to do the logging and generate web pages etc and the connecting hardware all in one metal case.

    It looks neat.
I don't use it myself because our meters and 3-phase power distribution are a bit complex and are in another building. However, I do still use the emoncms software on a Pi to record everything and do the pretty graphs etc.

At the meter board I use an Elkor WattsOn 3-phase Modbus thing and have a tiny bit of Python code on the Pi to read it. My Pi is an old Model B+ with a USB hard drive to avoid wearing out an SD card.

I use some kit from OpenEnergyMonitor. The older EmonTX is ideal for 3 Phase monitoring. They also do a system that will work off the light pulse on modern meters which is very accurate. The Pi based system is relatively expensive but includes the option to add in other sensors remotely or one wire sensors locally to the Pi.

EmonCMS is their logging system which can be used no matter what system you use via MQTT or the HTTP API. You can also install it locally or use their 'cloud' solution.
