How old do we think these wooden lintels are on a cotswold stone house?

The house is probably early 1700s and the tree could have been anywhere up to 200 years old before it was felled. So up to 500 years.

P.S. I know a good folk song about Cotswold houses

Does it have a youtube link or is it strictly for the rugby club bar?

It's not the usual rugby club fare Peter. No "Mary from the mountain glen" nor, " four and twenty ladies of Inverness" and such like, although I used to have a fair repertoire of such beer fuelled stuff too.
This one is a clever cynical take on moneyed " Settlers" moving into quaint Cotswold homes.

In the 'we've got a new landlord in our village pub' vein? https://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=75980 (You have to scroll down to find the last verses)

Oh I do miss the pub sessions Nick. All the mainstream media PC claptrap is set to right with a good rendition of barroom doggerel.

    @ Peter
Apologies for the tardy reply but I'm struggling with a tablet at the moment as my PC has died. All that stroking, pinching and dabbing is driving me nuts. The thing has been within a whisker of going through the window more than once.
Anyway here's the link you requested,. - hopefully! BTW Chris Wood is a favourite of mine, I've met him a couple of times, nicked a few of his songs too.

Thanks for the link. Same thing happens over here!

I've just managed to secure a good deal on a PC if you're interested?

It was the sentiment of the song rather than the PC pains - but thanks
