No, I'm not referring to frogspawn...

Last night I was having a discussion with someone that claims to have saved about 1/3 on their gas bills by putting a Tadpole (www.tagonatadpole.com) in their heating system. Having had a look on the website, I am intrigued by the claims made for the device, though a little skeptical - has anyone had any experience of them? How much of the benefit comes from the device, and how much from the attention given to the heating systems when it is fitted?

    Any thoughts?

I'm immediately sceptical because after a quick look on the site it makes lots of claims, but doesn't actually say HOW the thing works.

And having looked at the patent, I wouldn't pay them more than tuppence. What's wrong with a manual radiator air bleed valve?

It appears to "work" by allowing "air" to escape rather than build up in rads reducing their efficiency. My question would be... is it really air in your system or is it gas produced by your radaitors corroding because you didn't keep the corrosion inhibitor in it topped up?

Where is the CO2 coming from? Isn't it more likely hydrogen?

    Paul in Montreal.
