OK, so who's going to start the quips.:wink:
  1.
Don't know what you mean. Boatbuilding's been a load of bulwarks for a long time....
  2.
I'm guessing but I'd imagine they're all pretty much the same stuff, just in different bags.
Much like frozen peas or omnipresent divine creators
  3.
I had a very interesting meeting today with someone very knowledgeable in the EWI Industry - this is not the kind of stuff to specify yourself guys! Get it wrong and it may well all crack up.

I used their tile adhesive to stick some slate to a small area of external XPS / plastic ICF. Some tiles fell off. We probably did not follow the correct spec for fitting and the required repair is simple, but I would want to see a BBA cert or equivalent before I used their EWI products.

Mike , I'd have thought if you stick with one system on the same job eg. branded base coat , primer , top coat etc. you should be fine, whatever that system maybe .
A brand wouldn't be trading for long if it's none to fail ?
  5.
It's not necessarily a particular brand that fails - its when constituent parts are inappropriately mixed and matched. As an example different base beads are available, the cheaper ones being thinner and made of a cheaper material - the cheaper one being more prone to thermal expansion leading to cracking.....

With base coats and adhesives - using ones designed for a particular insulation is critical otherwise there is a risk of delamination
  6.
We imported a few batches of Bolix from Poland for a few projects and got on fine. We also had some Bolix undercoat and mesh left over and used Weber top coat without problems.

Right, but that's not exactly difficult to get wrong. Bolix U and Z, for instance, are clearly for EPS.

We're also not using base beads. We are going below ground with our the adhesive and base coat though, but PB Supplies assures me both Duocontact and the Bolix products are both fine for this.

I'm partial to this argument of getting the spec right but it's not that complicated right?
  7.
I don't know of the product you are using. Only the products I use which If used inappropriately can fail. If its so clear why ask?

I was asking about reputation/quality of Bolix, as opposed to specification.

My mistake :) It was the other thread you asked about the difference between base coats and adhesives :)
