Can anyone identify / recommend a product which would give me a heat recovery extract fan for use in a bathroom or utility.

I need 1 - a quiet trickle setting, and 2 - a boost. The boost can be manually switched or on a timer.

Usually I have used Vent Axia Lo-Carbon Tempra through the wall fans, which have been fine, but in this case I will be doing EWI so I would like to take it out via the ceiling to avoid penetrations, perhaps to a ventilation tile.

I have read the other huge thread currently running, but could not find anything which might be suitable here.

    Thanks

    Ferdinand

Our old mate Damon fitted one, may be worth a hunt around on his website to see what it was.

Perhaps the difficulty with a ceiling HR fan would be the condensate? The through-the-wall units usually deal with that by specifying that they are fitted with a slight slope toward outside.

    Thanks guys.

THat sounds as though I may be better off with the Vent Axia Lo Carbon Tempra Ps (no humidistat or timer) as I have been using for the last 4 years ... installed my first just after Damon ... and accept the penetrations.

THe best thing from my view about those is that the trickle is so quiet that no one turns them off.

So that will be PIV plus one Vent Axia in kitchen plus another or a fan with backdraft shutters in the bathroom, and appropriately shaved doors. I have a less airtight house with this setup and the Ts like it.

The other idea I am drawn too are the Lunos pushmepullyou fans, but they seem unproven for now.

Bear in mind that by definition any heat-exchange fan will be blowing in air that is several degrees colder than room air - not ideal when standing naked and wet! I had a client order one of these taken out from bathroom, for that reason.

    Hmmm.

That argues for something more traditional.

I don't think it is on the market.

I would love a single room HR where the inlet air can be ducted a short way to solve this issue.

You mean to just outside the bathroom door - with plenty of air-gap under/over it?
