Hi guys, Has anyone investigated or had dealings with these companies for a new build? or know if they have built many homes here?

I want to mention the name of the one I'm currently looking into, but not sure if I'm allowed to. If I were allowed, i would post a link to their website, so that others can look at it and let me know what they they think.

Failing that, any feedback/advice re the Scandinavian companies will be useful.
  2.
As long as you are not connected to the company Suzanne I don't believe there is any problem in posting the company name.
  3.
Ok thanks, I suppose there's always a risk that someone from a company will post a falsely positive comment on a thread, where the company has been innocently mentioned. Especially if they are routinely scanning forums for their name....just my suspicious mind

    it's "Scandinavian Homes" www.scandinavianhomesltd.com

No address, no geographic number, no names, no way!
Find another company who are prepared to stand up in front of their product(s)...

    Good luck
  4.
Good point! It seems that they have been operating in Ireland for a while and their Irish website is much more comprehensive. We'll see how they respond to my email enquiry!

I went to companies house and it says they are dissolved

But there is another entry underneath that is still trading

Thanks ST, I wonder if the UK site is an unconnected copy-cat of the Irish one? - anyway, I've emailed the Irish company as well, so let's see.
  6.
    These are the Irish guys

creamcheese - what attracts you to this company when there are so many similar companies out there who have a proven track record in mainland UK?

I've found that many timber frame companies based in Scotland offer similar style homes.

Maybe you have other Scandinavian companies in mind?
  7.
No , just stumbled across it - we like the "integrated" insulated slab system that MBC in Ireland also do.

If that's what you find attractive then look at Viking House: http://www.viking-house.co.uk/ http://www.viking-house.ie/

He's sometimes very active on this forum: http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk/forum114/account.php?u=4212 and has logged in the last day or two but hasn't posted a lot for a month or so.

Thanks Ed - Viking work in conjunction with MBC, and we are talking to Viking/MBC already. Thanks though, any other suggestions welcome
  9.
I had my timber frame package supplied by Scandinavian Homes Sweden AB which is a sister company of the Irish Scandinavian Homes Ltd. which is run by Lars Pettersson et al and I can highly recommend them.

To the best of my knowledge the Irish/Swedish companies do not supply outside of Ireland & Sweden.

I can confirm that the UK company is totally unconnected to the two companies above.

You can see the directors of the UK company by scrolling down this page:

    http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/scandinavian-homes

The registered office appears to be shared by 236 other companies so is probably an accountants or solicitors office.

As others have said a total lack of transparency on the part of the UK company would make me turn and run and keep running like Forrest Gump!

wow, 107 in Germany, 29 in UK...another win for them..... thanks for the link

Don't use the comapny who supplied our TImber Home (from Finland), they hardly showed up on site and weren't interested in sorting out any problems and also didn't want to take back the overestimated Recycled Newspapaer Insulation they sent!

Look at my website (bottom of first page) to see who it is before they get annoyed I am actually telling people how bad they were !!

Cheers Russ, will look at that later.... sounds like one to avoid
  13.
Oh I could tell a few stories mate !!
