Sorry, but the idea of getting a glazed look from a window fitter amuses me, somewhat.

Can anyone recommend a 3G UPVC suppier in the Essex area that supply the Rehau frames, the guy that I know has asked his supplier and they have basically laughed at him and told him all sorts why not to use them.

Hinges wont take the weight, beads dont fit, 3 times the price of 'A' rated etc.

I have been on the Rehau website for there 'preferred suppliers' in my area but none are being particularly helpful!

    thanks

I remember it being surprisingly difficult to get 3G UPVC too!

We used eurocell eurologik (7 chambered construction) which is used to get 2G up to A rated or with a narrower bead can take 3G.

gooday, various midlands manifacturers have weekly delivery runs in the SE and are good value ,
I'd imagine most SE guys would also run similar delivers all over.

U-values in windows are only part of the equation. How many of suppliers have tested windows with triple-glazing ? 50% increase in sash weight is going to put a lot of extra strain on ironmongery and the fixings. I'd recommend asking what size sashes have they tested to BS6375-2 with triple-glazing. Same question for BS7950 (for enhanced security) if they are claiming secured by design.

OK, I've stayed with the dark side, and expect to hand over a deposit in half an hour or so.

But I'm fairly optimistic that this will work well and resolve a number of issues at once.

PS. Still need to work out where to put extra MHRV to keep RH under control in winter amongst other things, and complete our IWI fun. May even sneak a little more loft insulation in for giggles.

Just an update for amusement / interest: we've had a series of unit failures over the last 8 years, with the outer pane shattering spontaneously on a chilly (though not usually very cold) night in each case:

    http://www.earth.org.uk/triple-glazing-3G.html#Failures

Warmlite has been very good about fixing the issues under warranty, quickly and professionally.

OTOH you seem to have had quite a few failures with their products. FWIW we have had no failures with our glazing in five years. Well except for a toughened glass door that succumbed to a stone thrown up by the lawnmower.

We were some of the first off a new production line, I think. Other than a little excitement no harm has been done.

And we still have a couple of years left on the warranty!
