Energy Assessment: RHI for Legacy schemes

    I heard at a meeting of Midlands Energy Professionals yesterday that a 'Legacy scheme' arrangement allows pre-15.7.2009 installations to apply for RHI. Anyone here knows anything about this?
    By the way this was mentioned during a CPD session/talk by Worcester Renewables.

    I haven't read/heard anything about this and I do try to keep up with RHI developments. I'd be amazed if it's true! From my brief skirmishes with the guys behind MCS they seem intent on preventing as many installations qualifying for the RHI as possible. For example the recent announcement that not all MCS approved installations will qualify for the RHI!

    My reading of the rules is that the legacy applicants they talk about are those who have installed post 15 July 2009 but before the official launch of the scheme (date still tba).

    Does anyone get the feeling that they are trying to drop the wood burning and concentrate mainly on ASPH and a little bit on GSHP and Solar Thermal?

    Can't say in all fairness. However I am aware that the software used to calculate EPC's apparently assumes a ridiculously low value for the efficiency of wood pellet boilers which in turn produces a very high figure for the theoretical amount energy used for heating, out of all proportion to reality. (There was a recent thread on this IIRC). So in that sense, yes there is a bias against wood burning.
