We have just purchased barn to renovate on Dartmoor and are researching green heating and hot water issues. The barn has to be used as a holiday let and therefore we will have less control over the amount of energy used by guests. We are finding it hard to get a joined up green approach for the whole property for heating and water, is there anyone out there who provides a green holistic advisory service? We have various brochures but these produce as many questions as they do answers. Work has not yet started on the barn because the renewal energy sources need costing and we will then trim others areas of the renovation to get everyting on board.

Solar hot water for sure with thermal mixing valve to mitigate the problem of scolding.

No but first see whether the building can be adapted to do most of the job more or less passively, before getting into hardware and gadgets. Every building a unique set of constraints and opportunities, requiring individual inspiration.
