    Hi all

Had a Woodwarm wood stove installed 1st March this year. A few days after install we noticed some rust on the inside of the firebox. We (regrettably) didn't think too much of it at the time. However, when we went to stop sing for summer, and cleaned it out etc, we saw that the rust had got worse.

We're in communications with the company we bought it from, but interested to get people's opinions and thoughts about it in the meantime.

We've been burning seasoned ash wood only (no coal etc). There's no rust on the outside of the stove.

    Many thanks

Here's some photos taken 3 days after install, with flash on so they are quite bright:

    It looks like surface rust.
Unprotected steel will rust when it gets damp with condensation. A steel box can get condensation just from daily temperature and humidity changes.
During the summer do you have the vents fully open (including the chimney if it has a damper)

I would not expect to see rust on the outside as this will (probably) have better airflow around it than the inside and will also have a heat resistant paint or enamel as a decorative finish

Great - thanks for the replies. That's re-assuring to hear.

Yes, we keep the vents open in summer, and the door slightly ajar sometimes too.

    Cheers

I recommend a bird proof cowl.

Oops - I missed these responses. My apologies. Great photo!

Yes, it is a new installation and there is a cowl fitted.

    Thanks for all the help.
