It is a clear winner on cost grounds! but what about in green terms? Do the pluses outweigh the minuses?

Well it worked for Alan Partridge!

I saw an article recently on a couple who had lived in one for 10 years or so, they did get a very good rate as they always booked 12 months in advance.

However I like having a lounge and a kitchen, which from memory aren't available in Travel Lodges. So no thanks.

I think I would soon become so depressed I would top myself, so perhaps, on a large enough scale, it is the answer to the population explosion?

Seriously though, hotel rooms make me feel ill. Maybe it is the chemicals the maids spray all over your room every morning, or maybe it is the materials they use to fit them out, but there is something about them that doesn't agree with me. They have electric heaters and are alway situated next to roads so you can't open the window for fresh air without being kept awake by traffic noise. How anyone could do 10 years in one is beyond me.

    "They have electric heaters..."

Try living in a caravan over winter when the only source of heat you have is electric. Travel Lodges actually have some appeal. I don't know how they'd cope with our two kids though!

You've got a double sofa bed for the kids Tuna, no need to pay a second room....
