    RE: EU Army.

One question that leave supporters don't ask when the topic of the EU Army is brought up is WHY NOW?

    Back in early 2016:

    1) We didn't have Brexit. The EU could rely on the UK and its forces being around.
    2) We didn't have TRUMP. The EU could rely on the USA's support via NATO.

With both of these factors (particularly) there is much less certainty that NATO will provide sufficient strength to protect the countries in the EU from an increasingly aggressive Putin.
    Will Trump provide sufficient troops?
Will Trump side with Putin? Is Trump actually in the pay of Putin?
Will the UK be in any position economically to provide the forces required?
Will the UK be aligned with the US and thus if US support is in question, is the UKs also?

Naturally the countries of the EU are getting nervous, they need to compensate for the risks of not having US & UK military support. Being in the EU where cooperation is part and parcel of being a member, they are naturally seeking to cooperate to reduce the risk.

Even if the UK were to remain a member, it would of course maintain a veto for its own forces joining such a venture.

It's not some conspiracy, it's just a natural consequence of Trump and Brexit.
  1.
The EU, especially Germany have not spent anywhere near enough on military budgets, expecting other country's tax payers to foot the bill for their defense. It's about time they took responsibility for helping protect their borders. Perhaps Germany and other EU states could also stop purchasing Russian gas and oil, helping that country to finance its own military build up. They are potentially the masters of their own demise.
