    I'm installing a kit from the people:http://www.rainwaterharvesting.co.uk

They have been very helpful from the customer service perspective, but unfortunately I won't be able to give you a review for around six months as we haven't finished the house yet and then I'll need some time to use it.

Bought a hoselock pump and machine mart pressure switch, cheap and cheerful, but working well.

    Hi Dickster,
For the simple minded/lazy, i.e. me:
    what's your arrangement for this?

    Hi Mike,

Hoselock garden pump has a corrugated black inlet pipe which you are meant to put in your rainwater butt. I risked it and it draws perfectly well at the bottom of our 2 metre deep old septic bottle tank. The pump has a filter and is meant to run continually whilst you water the garden. Having successfully watered the garden with it we went to manual switching for the loo. This worked a treat, so bought a Machine Mart pressure switch and it still worked, with no additional pressure vessel. Went on to plumb in washing machine still very good.

It hunts for about 7 seconds after the cistern is full, then once more about a minute later and that's it. Cost around £150.00 all in.

My pump is plugged into an electronic timer. I have it set to come on about four times per day, for around ten minutes each time. This fills the loft header tank which have ball valve floats. If the tank is full, the water does not run, even though the pump is still switching on and off. After ten minutes, the pump is off until the next on period.

To water the garden or clean the car, I just push the override button on the timer and it is on, until I manually switch it back to the timer function.
