    Posted By: djhI think the best way is to pay a trained person to build the PHPP model. I know somebody else on here has built their own model in it though, so he may have a different opinion.


    On the off-chance that's me, then just to say that I agree with djh!

    I did the Passivhaus training, then later modelled my house in PHPP. But crucially we were paying for a third-party assessor to validate the model as part of Passivhaus certification route.

    Needless to say I'd got around 90% of it correct, but the assessor was able to apply their expertise and experience to the final version of the model (mainly around internal heat gains and they way they are calculated between different versions of the software), which lead to a few differences in the end results vs my initial attempt.

    With that said, depending on your appetite and on how accurate you need the results to be, it's definitely possible to input the data yourself. I highly recommend the book 'PHPP Illustrated' which walks you through each tab of the software and the various inputs required.
