    It would be interesting to develop this with some projections that consider what might happen to the UK's entire fleet. Low(er) emission and alternatively fuelled vehicle sales are growing fast, albeit from a small base.

    I think it is too early to make any predictions yet. At the moment the low emission market is quite distorted by government incentives (cash back, zero or low car tax and only 5% tax on electricity), early adopters, low saving rates, no second hand market and uncertainty in the long term future of personal transport.

    Interesting snippet. 2.8% of new UK cars this year are "alternatively fuelled", with 26,000 sold in four months to April. Up from 1.8% and 16,000 over same period last year. 64% growth y/y.

    Still small figures, esp as a share, but that's real momentum.
