    Why do sloping soffits need to ventilated whilst walls, typically stud walls can be fully filled with insulation and don’t have to be ventilated ?

    Do you mean a sloping soffit, or a sloping 'cathedral' roof/ceiling?

    Presuming the latter, then they don't always have to be ventilated - it depends on the permeability (and agrément certificates) of the products used.
