I hesitate to ask general building questions here as it's obviously intended for green building queries. Are there any other forums of a more general nature? I'm having to manage my own project and do some of the work after my builder did a runner with a staged payment and I need to ask a few questions. Thanks..

www.ebuild.co.uk is lively...talks about design, costings, practical issues etc and has a few experienced self-builders on there too.
    I believe there's one called askthetrades...google!

All that is beyond me...I find it easier just to type the website and let people do their own hunting.

Ebuild is a good one. http://www.ebuild.co.uk/cgi-bin/forums/discus.pl

For more 'standard' DIY-questions try (also UK based) DIY-not:
    http://www.diynot.com/forums/index.php

Just type the link and choose text as the option. Use the html option only if you want to quote someone.
