This Rastrick stone is coming out of the space we'll be putting our house. We need it to go as soon as possible as we're running out of space. There is literally TONS and TONS of it! It's being taken off in 20 ton wagons, unfortunately we can't let it go in smaller quantities. Ideal for dry stone walling and some paving. If you know anyone who can send a wagon we'd be happy to pretty much give it away.

Please pass the message on to any drystone wallers or anyone who might be interested. We're in Rastrick, Brighouse, West Yorkshire, HD6 3NX

Photographs (if they work) are just the tip of the iceberg. Sorry - the trough is staying.

    thanks

got a couple of people coming for a look tomorrow, but there's loads, please forgive me if I'm overposting - it would be much nicer in walls than crushed.

    Hi Robin,

Have you tried contacted garden centers to see if they want it to sell ? They would also sell the lumpy ones as rockery stone.

You could negotiate a % then.!

Or does the local college do dry stone walling courses and want some to practice with ?

Somebody somewhere wants it - they just dont know it yet!

If you do find someone let me know as I have a funny feeling I am going to have a lot left over too but wont know until I have rebuilt my dry stone walls.

BTW can see that trough full of trailing begonias stood proudly out front when you have finished - next summer though hey !!

I have e-mailed College of the Peak (District) in Derbyshire to ask them to circulate their DS walling tutors.

Have you posted it on freecycle? In my experience it would be gone in 2 seconds!

You send a 20 tonne truck, we fill it for free! Lovely clean stone! We've diverted work from the house to use as much on site for garden walls - there's quite a bit of terracing on our hilly site. They look great!

...just sold 20 tonnes for £2 to a company that sell it on at £90 a tonne. That's a fantastic mark up even considering transport costs. Anyone got spare land near Hudderfield/Halifax/Bradford/Leeds-ish where I could put a hundred tonnes until I can get a better price? Might start a new thread for that.
