Does anyone know where I can get glass cut to a custom size in the Inverness area. I thought any glass company would do it but the two I went to today both said they only did cut and install and did not know where I might get glass to install myself.

    Any help appreciated,

    Jonti

Not really useful but if you're ever in West Yorkshire Oddyssey Glass company in Halifax did quite a bit for me - fire rated glass for internal windows and later toughened glass for window shelves.

Sure there must be many more please as it's not really something you'd want to ship. But then maybe they do, I haven't asked. http://www.oddysseyglass.co.uk

No connection other than as a satisfied customer.

Not in the Inverness area Jonti, but do you just want glazier type replacement cutting, or glass machining.

    That's amazed me!

Surely ANY glazier would cut glass.

    "Only cut and install"????

    They're having a laugh.

Owlman, yes, just glazier replacement glass.

    Joiner,

I will try a few more places as maybe I have been unlucky in finding the only ones that won't

Thanks for the replies and I will keep all posted

Oh, how much would be normal for 4mm or 6mm per m2?

    Jonti
  1.
What glaziers did you go to? Have you tried Highland Joinery and Glazing Contractors in Dalcross?

    Cost? Depends on the supplier.

Like a total prat, two weeks ago I ordered two pieces of 4mm clear float from a local builder's merchant. The last time I bought from them was about four years ago and I was impressed that they didn't have a minimum charge and the cost was blody good compared to elsewhere. When I collected the stuff I was totally blown away by the bill, just over £37! I stood there with my mouth open in shock. I suggested to the guy that he was mistaken and that someone had cocked up big time. He checked the figures, confirmed that "the price is right", but that the guy who'd written out the bill hadn't taken my discount off, which brought it down to just over £31. Livid with myself for being so stupid I paid it.

Cost from my usual supplier (which would have involved an extra 14 miles travel and a lot of traffic), just under a tenner including VAT.

Size of the two panes? 452 x 665.
