I'm trying to source some truss nail plates for a workshop roof I'm making. The only ones I can find are either perforated sheet steel which you have to individually nail, such as these. These would be ok, but it's a heck of a lot of nailing.

I want the second type , but decent quality suitable for trusses. I've looked for ages but can't find a supplier. Anyone here know where I can get some?

Plates with teeth are designed to be pressed in, usually by hydraulic presses. They can't be nailed because they don't achieve their rated strength that way.

But as I understand it you're outside the terms of the BBA if you do that. Building control ought to fail it if they discover it. I think the issue is that the repeated hammering can enlarge the holes so the teeth pull out more easily.]]>
