    Hello all

    Stumbled across this site while googling "air tight building" and amazed at all the info here.
    I'm just in the process of buying a plot for a new build so will be trawling through all the threads for ideas. Not sure how far I'm going with regards to renewables but it seems the best insulation possible from the start is the way to go.
    No doubt I'll be asking a few questions soon....

    Hi , yes I think 'fabric first' is the way to go , if you can afford it PV is very useful

    I agree with James and would add that detailing is important when it comes to airtightness.

    There's difficult, expensive and fail-prone ways of doing insulation and particularly airtightness, which everyone you talk to will believe is the only way. And there's easy, foolproof, cheap, long-term robust ways of doing it - plenty of info on here about that.
