Housing - New Build: Ridge/hip tile angles

    Are the ridge and hip tiles usually the same angle or different?
    Slate roof 35deg pitch. Dry fix.
    Got a feeling they need to be different so the ridge/hip junction will be neater.
    Merchant sent all universal ridges.
    Any advice?

    Snap! Mine are the same on hip and ridge. Done by an experienced roofer, hip to ridge joins look fine. Came through the winter gales with no problems, that series of storms is as good a test as any.

    There are often halfl round and segmental or 1/3 round to choose from, you want the latter.

    Tony,they are angled ridges/hips.

    They usually have two types one for ridge and one for hips, go for hip ones all round.

    For any given roof pitch the ridge angle, is different from the hip angle, that is, on a standard 90 degree pyramid hip. As a rule, if you can't get the exact angle tile then it's usual to take the next size down.
    To find a true answer to your question you'll have to get the calculator out and find the hip angle, the ridge is easy.
    There may not be a great difference, and using one size may be easier, but technically not correct, IMO.
