How easy would it be to become MCS registered to install heat pumps and take advantage of the £7500 grants available?

I have a few people interested and recent quotes from local MCS installers are quoting ~£13000 for supply and fit... leaving £5500 for the individuals to pay themselves....

I have my own VAT registered building maintenance company but just wondering if this is worth it?

What steps one would need to take? And I assume one would need to go on a supplier course or similar?

I could install heat pumps to my wife's 2 retail premises and my own commercial unit, and I have my own house to renovate once the purchase goes through

Ask MCS what they want from you??

With the grant available, I am looking at the options.
Most installers talk a lot of nonsense on heat pumps and the quotes are sky high. Suddenly I now understand why people are hesitant to take the plunge and go for a heat pump, and where all the scare stories originate from.
I don't think the industry is doing itself any favours in trying to rake in the profits like this. I can see why you would want to become MCS certified!

From what I was told by a solar pv guy MCS have lost a lot of installers after the FIT etc terminated and were now welcoming whoever they can get. No doubt there are certain hurdles to overcome and as philedge says ask MCS what they require from you.

In my opinion, the MCS scheme is definitely worth it for installers: it allows you to take vast profit over and above what a free market would bear. How long it will last is another thing.

I'll see what I can get out of them next week

    Thanks

Any grant is a licence for installer to rip folk off and make stupid amounts of money all at the taxpayers expense. There should be limits placed on labour charges and 'admin' fees.
