    Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with 'Airex' smart air bricks, particularly in relation to suspended wooden floors?

    https://www.airex.tech

They seem an interesting idea, but not sure how real the benefits would be or if there is a better way (without ripping up the floor to insulate).

That looks like an interesting idea but there's not much about how the algorithm works. How does it adjust to control damp? Does it sense the humidity in the underfloor void?

The company sent me their installation manual, it appears there is a humidity sensor on a fairly short arm behind the brick. No real clue how this would measure humidity further into the underfloor void.

From the guide installation looks fairly straightforward, the units are battery powered, would be interesting to know how these perform outside in the cold.

I wonder how long the batteries last and what indication of battery end of life?

Fit and forget? or fit and forget to change the batteries and so loose either all ventilation or just get permanent ventilation like a traditional air brick.

Yes, that's a question that also arises with trickle vents that include a humidity sensor - in that case not even on a short arm but just in the incoming air stream. Yet those sensors seem to be very effective in regulating per-room/as-needed ventilation in 24/7 powered-central-extract ventilation systems such as Peter Rickaby's https://passivehouseplus.ie/blogs/breaking-the-mould-in-thamesmead
