Don't know if this is of interest but Ive just had my Nordan 2g windows fitted in our new build. Managed to get a quote without any problem through their Aberdeen office. Windows are from their Villa range (fully reversible) 4-16-4 u=1.4 (whole window) They are alu-clad, and factory finished.
They look great but what I hadn't anticipated is how vulnerable the alu cladding is. Despite excellent packing one window arrived with a badly damaged section of cladding (I suspect during transfer between carriers to get to our remote highlands location) and we managed to damage a second transporting it to site. You really have to treat this cladding with respect. Nordan have however been helpful in providing replacements at no cost providing that I fitted them which is straight forward.

We are pleased with the folding/sliding doorset from Rawington, though it needs some adjustment which should be carried out in the new year as a final 'sign off' visit. I'll update when we've had that carried out. It's 3m60 in length, in foor doors. They have a range of systems to choose from, so you need to discuss with them which might best suit your needs. In general we've found that the moment you start talking to these companies, they bring out options that aren't on the websites.

Just got a quote from "Alba Timber Door and Window Solutions", who I think used to be part of Nordan and are now a distributor.

Anyway they gave me a quick and helpful quote for an in-stock tilt and turn window for £205+VAT per m^2. This is their U=1.2 range. Sounds OK doesn't it?

Haven't asked what 3G is yet but I suspect it's a lot dearer because it comes with insulation laminated frames in their "passive" range (U=0.7).

Just to update this, I bought two of their stock 3-handle windows, which I was able to pick up the next day!

I rubbed down the ("stained") frames and carefully applied 3 coats of holkham white linseed paint over the course of a week, on advice from here. This was expensive and a bit more effort than gloss, but I am quite happy with the finish.

    They look great.

Update on NorDan's willingness to supply the small/domestic market. It's been clear that they've not been interested, turning down quote invites - but seems that's changed now. Forming an alliance with APW to quote and distribute at that end of the market - and accepting quote invites already. Forgive my ignorance but what's APW (or even 'that end of the market')?

APW - Think it's the window supplier that NorDan are working with - joint venture to supply domestic/self build market. They just signed lease for shop/showroom in Exeter - so I'm told. Should be up and running end February - details will be on NorDan website soon.
