    just to clarify was the purlin height measurement of 3.4m taken from the same place as the 1250mm wall distance dim

    rafters currently hitting the wall below the ceiling height - so either
    1. you have an angled skeiling at the junction of wall and ceiling that you're keeping secret
    2. pitch is less than 45deg
    3. or dims are incorrect. ceiling 2650, purlin 3.4m high/1250 off wall, purlin 225 deep

    can you check the pitch with spirit level and protractor.

    1 is correct. I have angled ceilings. Sorry, forgot to mention. Rafters drop approx 300mm below ceiling level.

    I will check roof pitch again tomorrow, pretty close to 45 I think though.
