The most promising system at the moment looks to be one of these

http://shop.omnisense.com/p/74/drifi-restoration-monitoring-kit-eu-version

(lets me monitor temperature, RH and wood moisture content)

The only thing I don't like about that is that it ties you into a monthly contract for access to their server.

So I've been checking out alternatives. I can find various things that will let me log temp and RH directly, but it seems impossible to find a wood moisture content sensor that I can embed in the wall long-term and then retrieve data by whatever means (it could be cabled or wireless).

It seems surprising, as portable moisture content meters are quite common... I'd have expected to be able to get an embeddable version of the same.

Am I missing something or can anyone suggest anything?]]>

I need something that will log the readings periodically though, not just when I manually take a reading. I don't mind downloading manually every so often but need a consistent stream of readings over time.]]>

Table on the last page has the resistance values

Could get an RPi to do a resistance comparator but the wire lengths may play havoc with it

Cheers

Still find it hard to believe that there's not anything commercially available (aside from that one setup linked to in my OP). Surely moisture content is something other people want to measure over time?]]>
