    Ty-Mawr between Brecon and Merthyr.

    www.lime.org.uk is Ty Mawr. You can ring them up and arrange to collect from Brecon (their warehouse is just off the A40). It's probably cheaper to hire a van than to pay them to deliver.

    But there are probably other suppliers with better prices.

    Try black mountain and they have a higher sheep wool content :wink:............

    Yes but where? No one local seems to stock sheeps wool. How do they ever expect it to catch on if its not on the shelf :sad:

    Rounded Developments should be able to supply the www.lime.org.uk / Ty Mawr sheeps wool in Cardiff. I had some from them at the end of last year. Rolls are 400 or 600 wide.

    Black Mountain Insulation have a factory in Wales making sheep wool insulation and distributors spread arround, I used their product very easy to install, they will even show you round their factory if you are interested always helpful people, much cheaper than the others also.

    Does anyone know the R-Value (m.K/W) of sheep wool. I can't seem to find a value or it.

    B and Q are great, my second port of call and would be my first if they were as close as the builders merchant across the road.
    I applied for a job with them and failed their 'online aptitude test', quite proud of that :bigsmile:

    Mike, is there a reference for that value of k = 0.039W/mK ? I have struggled to find one.

    Hi,

    I think some of them are BBA so there are spec sheets. We had quite a long thead on this (no no not that sheep one!!) which covers price comparisons and exactly what % content allows it to be called sheep wool and the insulation cartel in general.

    I cant do the link thing so searched for the thread "2 for 1 deal on Sheep Wool insulation".

    The same figures are on the black mountain insulation datasheet if you needed any further confirmation...

    I've used sheeps wool insulation, but a must admit I struggle to reconcile the seemingly green credentials (despite the Welsh wool being shipped off to somewhere in the North of England for processing before being shipped back) against the cost ... it's expensive stuff - more a 'life-style' choice than a 'sensible' cost-effective choice...

    I bought "Innotherm" factory waste for £5.40 sq mt from Recovery Insulation it is BBA registered cert no 03/4027

    this price was inclusive of Vat and transport,

    factory in lancashire somewhere,,,

    Has a simular U value to sheeps wool

    The price of £5.49 [inclusive of carriage and V.A.T.] is only for CERT [UK Carbon Emissions Reduction Target] discount only i.e. DIY. This needs to be stated along with the price. The normal retail price is £7.15 plus carriage and V.A.T.

    Not sure what you want it for but there is a local sustainable insulation company called Warmcel that use recycled newspaper (I think). See website:
