  1.  
    Is it meaningful in order to reduce the footprint, to build smaller houses in general. If you build a house with less space, the walls and roof space needed would decrease four times as much. I think its more efficient than building in solar power and this sort of stuff.
    What do you think?

    sounds good in theory except for 3 things (maybe more!)
    1.we live in a 'free' society
    2.exposed area actually reduces relative to enclosed volume
    3. we only actually need to save energy for about a third of the time, so whats the point of living in cramped conditions
    surely the answer, as is so often the case, is to get the right balance of space to useability?

    Terraced house share some walls so for the same heat loss they can be more than twice the size.

    flats are even better, especially if single aspect, but do we all want to live in flats?
