Anyone know of a heat recovery fan similar to the Vent Axia HR100R - http://www.vent-axia.com/range/hr100rrs.html but with higher efficiency?

Specifically it's the design for two room ventilation that I am after.

We operate zoned temperature in our house, and not all our rooms are used all of the time, and I don't want a whole house MVHR moving *any* heat around.

Plus, I'd like to "phase" the cost, and whole house MVHR is quite expensive.

A whole house MVHR won't move very much in terms of heat - and will be a hell of a lot quieter in operation and significantly more efficient

The investment is in the unit - you can modify/amend/add the ductwork as you go along

Being a bit facetious here but if air doesn't move heat, why is uncontrolled air exfiltration so bad? (In terms of lost energy).

It is the amount of air that is moved and the overall temperature differences.

I did say it won't move very much heat - rather than none at all

It's a mass transfer process - shifting perhaps one fifth of a cubic meter with a relatively small difference in temperature is roughly the equivalent of the square route of bugger all in energy terms - compared to the volume of a house being moved several times an hour and replaced by air that is perhaps 25C lower in temperature than you need it for comfort

    Regards

    Barney
