    It's the thousand and one (million and one?) little pieces of knowledge like this that are what makes housebuilding more complicated than it looks.

    Hasn't been like that so far! Not going to be like in the future either!!! So I'll get the 221s then, probably the only reason the 221 isn't (OK you said you 'thought not') certified is they have not done it yet. For sure it'll be a lot better than my screw blocks!

    I think the 222 is only approved for maintenance free junctions, when using a waga box.

    To comply you need to use an approved combination of parts marked with the logo. The 221's are new so likely haven't been tested yet.

    My reading is that the standard requires physical protection (the box) and the cable needs to be secured.

    Yes and their boxes are impressively expensive! I have ordered the 221s....Ta all.

    Just got this back from waga UK.
    ----------------------------------------------

    The 221 connector is the newer and smaller version of the 222 connector.
    They each have their own advantage:
    221 Connector can take up to 4mm2 solid cable, whereas the 222 connector will only take up to 2.5mm2 solid.
    If you are looking to make a maintenance free connection, currently the 222 connectors along with the Wagobox are a certified maintenance free connection.
    The 221 Series have not yet been tested, this is something we are looking into but it will require a new junction box.

    Both the 222 and 221 Series are rated to 32A in accordance with IEC and international standards. The 20A rating is in accordance with UL standards for the USA market.
