Just a possibility we could help each other out - we're hoping to build a house starting this summer in Yorkshire. Details at http://tinyurl.com/nesthouse . Probably not quiet as green or self-build as you'd hope. Lots of jobs likely to come up on landscaping, rainwater harvesting, etc. etc. etc. Take a look and let me know, we look after our helpers well!

Whatever you do I hope you have a fantastice and constructive time!
    best wishes
    Robin

    Menzies,

Definitely opportunities, depending on when your looking at in relation to the program. As above drop me an email and I'll send some details. Also if of use to you or others, there is a possibility of this counting toward RIBA / CIAT professional experience record, as you will be working under my supervision ( as I'm a UK registered architect).

Look forward to hearing from you.

Tom, I have a project you may be interested in -- in Canada. Depending on your interest/commitment, we could foot the bill for flights and put you up for the summer. For more details and to discuss send me a message with your email.

    Hello all

Myself and my Son, Josh are in the final throws of securing detailed permission for a hemispherical post and beam segal inspired house in woodland in Cornwall. Unique and fairly inspiring. By May we should be commencing the main structural frame. If it means anything, I am a co-director of an infamous Architectural practice ARCO2 based in Bodmin and also co-Director of ECOFAB (Prefabricated modular strawbale building system) both base in Bodmin, Cornwall if anyone wants to see the kind of projects we do. www.arco2.co.uk and www.eco-fab.co.uk.

I am sure we would be happy to provide free food and accomodation in return for blood, sweat and tears.

Anyone interested give us a call on 01208 72200 (office) or 01208872326 (home) to discuss.

    All the best

    Martin

We specialise in sustainable sewage treatment, including non-electric plants. If you have a few days spare, we would be willing to train you on the installations, particulary on the 'chimneying' principles of the air current-powered plants?

And by the mountains of Snowdonia and the golden sands of the Llyn we have the restoration and extension of an 18th cenury cottage to modern zero carbon standards. Mix of the old and the new. We're also going to try to construct an Earthship into the hillside and a Celtic longhouse in one of the fields. The area, now Hafod Gwyrdd, is a smallholding, mostly woodland, with soft and top fruit and whatever veg we can get round to this year! Accommodation will be simple - tents etc - until the Earthship's running. And simple after that I guess!! We're going to try to install a range of sustainable energy sources, including a wind turbine subject to the planners and theother folk of the area.
We'll work through WWOOF for folk as would like to join us in this - I'm crishtrees@googlemail.com and we hope to have www.hafodgwyrdd.co.uk going in a couple of days time.
