I am soon to start oak frame self build house here in the Dordogne France. Need experienced help up to 2 people to carry out roof tiling - the roof is a hipped roof typical of the region with 4 dormer windows. The tiles will be flat clay tiles approx 25cm x 15cm area = 159m2 with 57m linea ridge tiles. Am starting oak framing next week and expect to raise the frame during early May. Estimate roof tiling to be late May early June. Willing to pay reasonable amount for labour and travel expenses, can accommodate free. All meals provided - would only expect you to contribute to cost of ingredients !

is there anyone in the Wakefield area who wants to go halves/thirds/quarters on an arctic load of cordwood (softwood, preferably Larch). I don't have space to receive such a delivery so need someone to provide the space (for receiving & processing) and to take some of the load for their own use.

Failing that, is there anyone in the Wakefield area able/willing to supply approx. 10 ton of cordwood?]]>

Heat bank (thermal store) linked to a wood burning boiler. Design and fit http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk/newforum/comments.php?DiscussionID=9978 http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk/newforum/comments.php?DiscussionID=9978 Wed, 09 Jan 2013 16:55:36 +0000 scruffders
I am renovating my house very shortly and would like to fit a large Wood burner with a back boiler and link this to a Heat bank (thermal store).

I have a very good idea of what I want, but would like to ensure it all works efficiently and reliably by getting a heating engineer with good experience of these systems to incorporate my ideas into a design and then fit the system.

After reading all the woes, on this and other forums for the past year or so, of people having problems with Heat banks/thermal stores, mainly due to people fitting then without fully understanding how they function, you can understand why I want to get a competent engineer.

Can anybody please recommend a person or company who they know would be suitable? Preferably with experience of them fitting a system for you or someone you know. Or maybe you know someone on this forum who I could speak to?

I have had appointments with 2 so called heating engineering experts from 2 different companies this week. Both of them failed to show up!

I live in West Lancashire, but don’t really mind where the company is based as long as they don’t mind travelling.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

This advert has the approval of GBPKeith by the way!

Output range 7.5kw to 25.9kw.
Dimensions (mm) : 1028 w x 733 d x 1461 h

As part of the low carbon refurbishment of our Grade 11 listed property in Warwickshire we installed a Windhager BioWIN Exklusiv 26kw boiler. The boiler was commissioned by Windhager on the 31st October 2008.

There are thousands of Windhager boilers installed in Europe.

Whilst enjoying low carbon living since 2008 our plan had been to construct a pellet store and then purchase the Windhager Suction Head so that we could achieve automatic feeding of pellets from the store to the boiler hopper. After a long battle with the planners and the County Council’s arboriculturalist we have concluded that it is not practical or feasible to proceed with the automatic feed. This, coupled with a need for my wife and I to travel to the United States during winter periods has lead us reluctantly to change from a biomass to a gas boiler.
The boiler has been fully serviced and decommissioned by a Windhager approved service engineer and is ready for the next heating season. I have also confirmed with Windhager that the remainder of the warranty will still be valid until October 2013 provided it is installed by a Windhager approved installer.

Price new in October 2008 £6,469
Sale price now £2,000 ONO

Buyer collect from Warwickshire. Alternatively, if within reasonable travel distance from Warwickshire, it would be possible to arrange with our Windhager approved installer to both deliver and install, at an additional cost.]]>

My local builders merchant up here in Shetland started stocking Grant Aerona air source heat pumps a while ago. It's a harsh, salty climate up here and, talking to one of the guys in the shop, I got the impression that people thought that the unit might rust too much up here.

As a result, they have had an 11 kw ASHP sat in the shop for about a year and it is currently priced at £3k, reduced from £6k. The shop's not huge and I would guess that they must be keen to shift it. It would probably cost a couple of hundred quid to get it shipped south.

If anybody wants to know more then let me know and I will whisper them the name of the shop. I have absolutely no financial interest with this and have no connection with the shop (other than as a customer). I just thought that if somebody is looking for one of these units then there might be a bargain to be had.]]>

Ditto they have a Baxi EC25 heat recovery fan. I believe it is what became the Vent Axia HR25, but I may be wrong. When I scrounged it from Baxi in 2000/2011 it had a low voltage supply but that seems to have walked. Not sure the guarantee would be valid (!) but it's worth a go.

These are both 'free' to a good home, although SYEC, an energy advice centre with no assured funding stream, would, I am sure, welcome a donation. It hasn't been run for several years but was in excellent order and has been in a container ever since. We used to use it as an exhibit to show that you could run diesels on straigt veg oil. We never used it to drive anything - it just sat and chugged - but it was obtained from a pump-hire co and has the drive blanked off. Would suit pump or genny use, or even narrowboat!
