Politics: How to encourage appropriate emissions charging / capping

    One way of achieving the significant cuts in emissions that we need is by either appropriate charging or capping and trading. The IPCC report agrees.
    I have of course written to my local MP's and as usual got the best response back from the Lib Dems - shame they are unlikely to get in...

    Does anyone have any smart ideas on how else one could encourage this?

    If possible can I respectfully ask that this doesn't turn into a debate on whether people think appropriate charging or capping and trading etc are the way ahead.

    I believe the zerocarbonbritain people at CAT are running a voluntary cap scheme where they work out what would be your allowance, which will obviously decline each year, under their plans and provided you with a spreadsheet to record your emissions. They emailed me about this a few months back and I replied that I would be happy to take part but have heard nothing since...

    Maybe you could contact them and get them to put the details up on their website so more of the general public could get involved?
