Housing - New Build: Curtains tracks integrated into the ceiling

    We are close to plaster boarding our new build and have realised that we are only going to have 45mm between the top of the window and the ceiling in two of the bedrooms, one of which has a bay window. As this is going to be quite tight for a curtain rail / pole and we don't want to have blinds we were thinking of a ceiling mounted curtain track.

    I know interiors are a little off topic for the forum, but has anyone had any experience of doing something similar?

    So, dwang/ noggin the ceiling to give you good track fixings and fashion a super-stylish pelmet to cover your mechanism- but prob. need to be more than 45mm to achieve this. As the lower edge of the pelmet becomes the top edge of the window visually, it looks OK though...

    Should add that extending the rail and pelmet line past the edges of the windows lets you park fabric against wall to allow most light in, also applies to bay, if fully glazed.

    I've seen it done in a house we looked at when we were researching - these were set completely flush so only the loops the hooks attach to were visisble.

    The house wasn't being lived in when we looked round so have no idea how the curtains looked or worked.

    We were planning to do something similar but it got forgotten/postponed until it was too late. We've now gone for SilentGliss 'wave' curtains which has a low profile track that attaches directly to the ceiling. The tracks are on site but we've not installed yet (or made the curtains)

    Although this is USA, it's the sort of thing that is widely available in Germany for ceiling mount. I don't know if anyone in the UK imports it. I brought some back for my own place.
