We are looking for someone to advise clients in respect of (particularly renewable) heating, power and hot water systems on domestic projects in greater detail than the strategic advice we are qualified (and insured!) to provide as architects.

Not necessarily a full M+E design but some one to coordinate how / make sure it all fits together, could be a good well qualified contractor / company or supplier or an M+E chap (or chap-ess) who knows about fee restraint.

In the past the former are averse to any involvement outside they're own catalogue / last job and the latter tend to charge fees that are disproportionate to the cost of the overall installation.

Any ideas / recommendations / volunteers.

('couple of jobs on the books specifically needing this role now-ish)

    James,

are you still looking for assistance regarding this issue? I've just come across your posting. I'm a chartered Mech Engineer, and have swapped managing the design/build of large complex buildings, to design/build low energy houses - just completed one for myself (to better than passiv haus standards).

Only draw back is the work would need to be do-able remotely, as am located in cental Scotland, but obviously fee's would reflect this. I suspect that understanding the clients needs (life style) and then converting that to schematics with recommended equipment/suppliers could be achieved remotely?

    Regards, GreenPaddy.
