    Hi,

Part of our annual hot air system service is to check the rooms with the inlet grilles have external vents. As part of installing MVHR I would want to block those up, but would the gas inspector be happy with that?

    Thanks

Odd, is it a heat the air and throw it away system? Or does it recirculate? Open flue gas? 1950/60's house with air vents in bedrooms?

    Hi,

It recirculates and I think it's open flue but I'm not an expert. Mid-70s build, air vents in all rooms.

    Thnaks

You might need to consult gas safe but I would aim at closing off all the external vents bar one for boiler air supply.

Undercut doors and run is as a recirculate system.

For condensation problems beware of furniture against outside walls restricting air circulation and heat from the room. Some info here http://readinguk.org/draughtbusters/galleries/condensation/

Which rooms have inlet grilles and/or external vents?

Posted By: morsingMid-70s build, air vents in all rooms.

I had a house like that in the mid 70s but as I recall it just had one big intake in the hall at the bottom of the stairs and outlets in every room.

Has the boiler/furnace been updated or replaced since then? I'd think a 1970s unit would probably be very inefficient.
