Renewable Energy: which FIT provider?

    So because my electricity supply is with Ebico, I used SSE to register my FIT installation. I've now had quite enough of trying to deal with them so I'm looking to change my FIT provider and possibly my electricity supplier, although I'll wait a few months for that until I have a full year's consumption figures.

    I'm thinking of switching either to Good Energy or to Ecotricity. Any opinions from anybody?

    Yes I am with good energy, they have been no problem so far (5 years).

    The main advantage of registering with a small company for Fit's is that if you switch supplier to one of the big 6 you can leave the Fit contract behind and remaining with Good energy. Some of the big ones demand that you move the renewable supply as well. Sorry I don't know which ones. (At least this was the case a few years ago it may now have changed a bit

    +1 for GoodEnergy... not the cheapest probably, but the best CS I have ever had from a utility co! :bigsmile:

    djh -- do you find you have to wait a ridiculously long time (and hugely variable amounts of time from quarter to quarter) to receive FIT payments from SSE?

    +another for Good Energy. I have my gas and electricity with Eon and FITs with Good Energy. Happy with them as thy helped sort out a long standing issue I had with the meter number and associated address. Good customer service, very responsive.

    Think you've got that the wrong way round.

    "If you switch FIT provider you do not necessarily have to move your electricity supply too. It depends on the energy company that you switch your FIT to.

    In general, the Big Six will take on FIT customers without their electricity supply (as long as you aren't buying your electricity from one of the other big six companies). This is because they are under obligation to be FIT provider for their own customers and anyone who does not have a FIT provider. However, some voluntary FIT providers require you to switch to their energy supply before they can be your FIT provider. "

    I use isupplyenergy for supply ( usually the cheapest), and Npower, my old supplier for FITs, who have a
    very good, efficient service.

    Thanks everybody. I just got a mailshot that offers me £50 if I sign up with Good Energy, so that's looking favourite at the moment :bigsmile:

    Jeff B. I haven't been with SSE long enough to have a pattern, but it did take 10 months to get my first payment.

    npower, never had a problem. The webpage to enter the reading could be a bit more user friendly but that's the only interaction I have with them.
