    Interesting read. The only problem is that although many planning approvals have planting plans many are not carried out as it saves money for the developer and the local council does not want to take on new trees and other plantings which are costly to maintain.

    More trees in urban areas? No thanks! In parks maybe but ideally in dedicated forestry land. The last thing I want is to encourage my neighbour to plant yet more trees and send more roots under my garden walls and cover my place with more leaves every autumn, blocking my gutters and drains and shading half my garden. It gets me that people are able to plant trees seemingly with complete impunity. All I am allowed to do is trim overhanging branches and dispose of them at my expense!! Grrhhh :devil:

    I think their campaign is more about ensuring there is enough home grown timber to build the houses we need.

    Exactly - so more dedicated forestry please!

    P.S. I could have added potentially shading my PV panels to my rant list above (if they grow much taller)
