I am a consulted as a I am on the list of consul tees.

    They do have professional advisers

They do take into account what the respondents say so long as plenty of them are saying the same thing.

I am disappointed thus far that little of my input has been heeded -- I am in the minority though.

For example I strongly advised against bringing electrical work under building control.

Also I had a lot to say about the new proposals for moving towards so called zero carbon development.

The was a discussion forum set up to talk about recent proposed changes which was monitored and reported on on the very subject you raised too. I closed earlier this year

They go through a consultation process and then a Regulatory Impact Assessment. Sadly the RIA often throws out a lot of the sense. The RIA for the new Part L, for example, was conducted through just eight consultants, drawn from the 'conventional' new-build sector. As a result, damn-all guidance on the sensitive conversion of older properties, traditional construction materials or 'unorthodox' building methods.

There is also BRAC [Building Regulation Advisory Commitee]. They often aadvertise for new members. Recent advert here http://www.arb.org.uk/news/press-gallery/release-1174909843.shtml

This may be the commitee tony referred to?
