My heat pump is situated a few centimetres to the north of a fence panel and about 50 cm away from a very large wooden water Butt. Unsurprisingly, the north facing front garden it’s always significantly cooler than the sunny back garden and as I’m replacing the fence anyway, I wondered if it made sense to replace the adjacent panel with trellis so that there is better air circulation generally and potentially warmer air and sun from the south facing back garden. My partner thinks that it will make no difference & we will lose some privacy, but he’s not a heat pump expert either… And it’s my house I’m paying for the fence and most of the electricity bills so, if trellis would reduce the bills to some extent I don’t mind compromising some privacy, but if it makes no difference I’ll stick to fence. Any thoughts appreciated:)
