    Maybe of interest if you're thinking of buying aerogel products. I just had a letter from UK supplier telling me the cost of aerogel / spacetherm was going up about 30% at end of July i.e. in under a week's time and that they are simply passing on their suppliers increases. Why so big and so sudden?

    Probably reflects changes in production costs, exchange rates, size of market place, lack of substitutes, delay in incremental price increases etc. Think we will see a lot of massive price increases in most things over the next 2 years, will counteract the drop in prices in many things that we have just experienced. Oh and VAT is going up in the new year.

    Robin, the price increase applies only to Spacetherm which is the rebranded name for Aspen Aerogels Space Loft as marketed by the Proctor Group. The price increase is on that product, Spacetherm.
    There are other suppliers of aerogel products and aerogel laminates in the UK and Eire. These products wll not be increasing in price.

    Saint, can you point me in the direction of the other suppliers of aerogel products and laminates in the UK and Eire please.

    Thanks Damon, its a point worth reiterating.
    Spacetherm products, NOT aerogel products are increasing in price. There are other outlets for original Aerogel products that were not rebranded Spacetherm.
    Damon has supplied a list of alternative suppliers
