Is there any SAP calculation software available for Mac OS X 10.7 (or iOS for that matter)?

What about any 3D modelling thermal design analysis software for Mac?

Found this SAP software for Mac but it hasn't been updated in a long time so is no longer compatible with modern hardware and the latest version of Mac OS X:
    http://www.completepicture.co.uk/

However the developer tells me 6-8 weeks and version 4 will be released, which will be compatible with Mac OS X 10.7.

The SAP spreadsheetsshould work OK on a Mac, I think. I'll see if I can dig one out later when I'm back on my main PC and attach it here, unless someone beats me to it.

The spreadsheet method isn't as intuitive as using some of the better software, and needs a fair bit of looking things up on the tables in the SAP pdf document, but the results end up the same.

I'd be grateful for a copy of that useless SAP spreadsheet too.

Sorry for the delay, I was working on my netbook last night and didn't have the file to hand.

Attached is the SAP spreadsheet, in .xls and .ods formats, compressed into a .zip file so that the forum software will allow it to be attached.

In addition, you will need to download the SAP pdf file from here: http://projects.bre.co.uk/sap2005/ to get the guidance and tables

It's not the most recent version of SAP, but the spreadsheet isn't protected and can be adapted easily enough.

It's also been online here for some years:
    http://wookware.org/files/SAPWorksheet9.80.ods

I guess an update to SAP 2009/2012 will be in order soon.

Thanks and would love the Wookware sap2009/2012 when available.

BTW thank also to JSH although I couldn't unzip the file on my Mac - apparently it should just unzip itself on OSX.

*.ods files should open in Excel, or download Libreoffice for a mac.
or just wish you had bought a PC

I can send you the Excel version if you like. The snag is I can't attach it here as the forum software blocks .xls files. If you whisper an email address I could attach it to a reply.

Thanks Jeremy. What about zipping the xls file before uploading?

I've already done that, it's in the zip file I posted 3 days ago, above (the zip has both the .xls and .ods versions)

I unzipped it by firing up a terminal window and just typing unzip SAP.zip - it gave a warning but both an xls and ods file appeared and the xls file opened fine.

    Hi Paul
Not working for me, sure that's my fault, I'm going to ask JSH to email me. This is what I get....

    "unzip SAP.zip
unzip: cannot find or open SAP.zip, SAP.zip.zip or SAP.zip.ZIP."
  2.
    Posted By: RobinB"unzip SAP.zip

You have to change directory to where it was downloaded, in my case it was "Downloads"

    [Paul-Marriotts-MacBook-Pro:~] paulmarriott% cd Downloads/
    [Paul-Marriotts-MacBook-Pro:~/Downloads] paulmarriott% unzip SAP.zip
    Archive: SAP.zip
warning [SAP.zip]: 1 extra byte at beginning or within zipfile
    (attempting to process anyway)
    inflating: SAPWorksheet9.80.xls
    inflating: SAPWorksheet9.80.ods
    [Paul-Marriotts-MacBook-Pro:~/Downloads] paulmarriott%

    Get MacZip
    http://download.cnet.com/MacZip/3000-2250_4-10025248.html

You will need to zip up files sooner or later anyway.
    Or just get a PC

Sorry Jeremy, I jumped in middle thread and didn't realise you'd already posted xls. What did you use to zip the file up? Paul's advice worked for me but it looks like it's slightly corrupted or something.

Steamy, Mac OS X has zip support built in. No need for third party software to zip up files (cltrl or right-click and choose Compress, if anyone wants to know). Attached are files zipped via Mac.

I had read Mac OS X should just unzip automatically so I was a little wary of buying and downloading an unzip product. Jeremy has kindly emailed me the unzipped version so I'm good to go.

And ST, yes, silly me I probably could have unzipped it on a PC here and moved it over.

    Thanks all!

Yes, there's something a bit odd about the .zip file. On Ubuntu:

    $ unzip SAP.zip
    Archive: SAP.zip
warning [SAP.zip]: 1 extra byte at beginning or within zipfile
    (attempting to process anyway)
    inflating: SAPWorksheet9.80.xls
    inflating: SAPWorksheet9.80.ods

The .ods opens in OpenOffice just fine.

The file was zipped with Winrar, which has always seemed to work OK in the past. It's probably been installed on this machine for around three years and I must have zipped up a few dozen files over that time without any problems I know of.

I use a licensed copy of Winzip, one with a proper serial number in it, never have any problems
I wish, tried to zip up nearly 4GB of data once, it never opened after that. Would not trust it for backups.
  3.
Personally I circumvent the whole issue of non-compatible software by running the windows versions under Parallels. It's paid software but reasonably good at what it does. Make sure you've got at least 2Gb of memory, preferably 4Gb.

For simpler software the doesn't require 3D graphics (SAP software tools for example) there are OSX ports of the WINE project. This is likely to require more messing about but is free. Which one you choose is up to you.

efficient-ideas, this turned out to be a problem with the forum software. Probably worth leaving a link on this thread, too:

    http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk/forum114/comments.php?DiscussionID=8644

“It appears that whether or not you get the extra byte is a function of the URL you use to download the attachment. If you use “newforum” you don't get the extra byte, if you use “forum114” then you do”

Oh dear what a lot of hassle. I've uploaded an xls version for all you libreoffice-challenged types out there still suffering/persisting with your proprietary formats: http://wookware.org/files/SAPWorksheet9.80.xls
