What type of cavity wall insulation options are there for a 1970s random thickness stone/50mm+cavity/breeze block house? Apparently the beads aren't guaranteed to insulate everywhere, what foam or other options are there which qualify for a grant?

Blown rockwool is generally reliable and qualifies for grant aid

I have 20mm polystyrene sheet insulation in the cavity of my walls which I think, is pretty useless. When I asked a cavity insulation engineer as to the possibility of adding blown insulation to this he said it couldn't be done if there was any existing insulation in the cavity. Is this true?

Reportage on cavity wall insulation in S.Wales...suitability for all homes...resulting damage...condensation, damp, mildew.
chartered surveyor on the case - go on son stick your moisture meter on the wall (thats the yellow tool calibrated to measure moisture content of ""'timber"")

Havn't The Welsh Assembly people got a problem with damp resulting from retro-fit cavity insulation? Who else is surprised?
