    I am new to this forum and am hoping for some advice, I had an Ecodan 14kw system installed about 5 years ago and would like a few upgrades i.e a magaclean filter added a power flush and gycol readded and some external lagging redone.

    I am having a few radiators changed and dew to some poor design i need to drain down the whole system.

    I have been quoted over £800 which i feel is way over the top, I am looking for someone in London that can help me. I have already purchased 25 litres of glycol.

    I am not very technical and very bad at DIY.

    errrr ....you don't want glycol in the rads, do you?
    the rads are filled with stabilised/inert water and Fernox inhibitor (or similar)?
    the glycol is in the ASHP condenser/evaporator circuit?
    I was a plumber for over 7 years, and I never put glycol in the rads, but things might have moved on since then...?:confused:
    PowerFlush is to clean / dislodge the crud that builds up inside steel rads due to oxidation, and which blocks up the channels/pipework.
    You can achieve a similar effect with a rubber mallet and a hose......:bigsmile:

    I thought the central heating system which the ASHP heat where one in the same, I have been in touch with the original installer who now lives in Spain and he said that i would need 25 litres of Fernox Alpha 11 put back into the system to stop the pipes from freezing after it is drained down.

    Can anyone recommend a London based company to service my Heat Pump ?

    Servicing them pretty much amounts to vacuuming accumulated crap out of the air exchange fins. When was the last time you called Samsung out to service your fridge?

    My ASHP / UFH has about 70 litres of fernox HP-5c sloshing around along with all the water (approx 260litre system). My father in law's system has a similar amount of sentinel r500. Both products are anti freeze and corrosion inhibitors. Critically, they don't really kill you if they leak into the hot water system and you end up drinking a bit. Otherwise I'd have used car antifreeze :)
